R & R

Dad hasn't had a full night's rest in years. That is, until last night. We know that it is thanks to all your prayers that he is progressing so well.

Mom hasn't left his side. Before the surgery she would cuddle up next to him and sleep on his hospital bed with him. But because of the foot-long incision on his stomach, she now has to sleep on a chair at his bedside. Because Dad slept all night, so did Mom! We are so happy that they were both able to enjoy some sleep; they needed it!

They are starting him on chemotherapy again today.

He has really enjoyed hearing your comments. They mean so much to him, so please take a moment to leave him a message, no matter how short.

I know that your words of support and encouragement will be just what he needs to get through this next round of chemo.

Thank you!

  2. Oh I'm so glad to hear that he finally got to sleep. Seriously, I think a good night's sleep can do wonders for the body and soul. Hopefully some of the kids got sleep too! You are all in our prayers.

And kinda funny that my mom and I commented at almost the same time. ;)

  3. Mr./Brother/Rose...Earl? Not sure what to call you since you and I aren't close but I was close to Diana and Paul is like a member of our family. I want you to know that we believe in miracles at our house. My dad almost lost his life to another disease but beat all odds. Heavenly Father must think so much of you to place this burden on your family's shoulders....He knows you guys are tougher than the disease! Hang in there and enjoy that jell-o. :)

  4. What an awesome family you guys are. It is so awesome that there is so much love and support being given-that makes such a difference. I think it is good to remember that our Heavenly Father does have a plan for each of us, and although we might not like going through the trials he sometimes sends us, he truly does what is best for us. He loves us so much and wants us to be HAPPY-FOREVER! It is obvious reading this blog that miracles have already happened. I have an Uncle who was diagnosed with kidney cancer-by the time they found it-it had spread to his lungs and brain. The Dr. gave him 3 months-that was almost 3yrs ago, and he is still going strong. He has had his ups and downs along the way, but it has been the support of a loving family that keeps his spirits up and keeps him fighting. Keep up the faith-miracles do happen. We are so lucky that we know our families can be together forever. Your family will be in our prayers.

  6. Good Morning Earl and Susan,
Earl, I'm glad you were able to get some sleep. Susie, I hope you were able to get some sleep too, that chair can't possibly be comfortable. I can't think of a better family to be in, especially at a time like this. Remember that I love you and I'll be up to see you soon.
    Love, Belva

  8. Hi Diana,
My heart ached when I read about your father being sick. My sweet little mom has been fighting ovarian cancer for 5 years now. It is amazing how an illness draws a family closer together and that support is huge when it comes to fighting this kind of a battle. It sounds like you guys are in good hands at St Marks.
I was watching American Idol the other night. I don't know if you saw it but there was a girl singing the song "Terrified" by Kara Dioguardi and she totally reminded me of you...especially when she crinkled her nose when she was singing.
Sending prayers and positive healing thoughts your way!
